  • 33 on the block - a record?

Spoiled for choice, we have (33) TR6s for sale on ebay at the moment.

Not a seller's market by that metric!

Got that right - there is no market for them in fact you practically have to give them away hmy:

I don't expect it will be a seller's market in my lifetime. It is nice though, that there are plenty out there for those who want to own one :cheer:

Giving them away? I'll take two!

I've never worried much about the value, just a fun car for me.

But the majority of those on ebay are way overpriced, no wonder they are stacking up.

Wonder if the number and prices are related to how much the TR6 is being touted as an "under-priced classic" that's been "ignored in the market until recently".

Seen both of those quotes in articles lately.

When I was a buyer six years ago there were half as many cars on eBay. The pro sellers have really stepped up their offerings. Perhaps the interest in the TR6 is growing in the markets. Prices are too. I don't remember many cars selling for over 12k.

TR250s and TR6 carbs suffer from the " detuned " stigma. For their part, the P.I. cars suffer from the " Lucas P.I. " stigma, which I have contended more than once on the UK forum results in valuations 1/2 to 1/3 of what they'd be worth Webered from the factory, uncontested.

All of them would appreciate were a rationalized ( standardized ) 150 BHP alternative recipe to become widespread, especially the US cars. As many of you know, the factory P.I. cam and triple DCOEs are what I propose to fill the bill .

I don't know if I would have been in the market for a TR6 if they were selling for 1/2 to 2/3 more of what I had to pay for the two that I've owned....that'd a been a lot of money for me.

I don't think the fueling method of TR'6s is what limits their value as much as they made, on average, over 10,000/year during their 7 year production run.

If I were interested in straying from "stock" on a N/A model, I think I'd go with the ZS carbs that have been retrofitted with a fuel injector, or bolting on a set of Mukino's (doesn't Don Patton offer both??? I forget) Gets you relatively easy in to a much easier starting/smoother idling and easier to ramp up performance (by swapping out injectors). That's if I was interested in straying from stock. Part of the charm of owning these cars is the variation in things and the (fairly light) demands on ownership maintenance.

Valid point, PB but souping these up wasn't really legal ( for street use ) due to emissions regs anyway, expiring only recently for the tail end of production as I understand it. Given the tab to get them to " 150 BHP " is pretty reasonable at $3-5K it's still a buyers market for what, when so rendered, makes for quite the period sportscar . To surpass it I think you really have to look at E-types or pretty pricey Porsches, the latter of which are fetching really strong money ( because they're actually owner serviceable - a really important factor! ).
