  • So The Fourth Oldest Running TR6 Is For Sale

According to the owner, she is solid. She looks a little rough, but full restoration would be in order anyway. She is not the oldest, but close. What do you guys think she will go for? Will that early of a car command a premium price or not since it isn't the first. Thought the steering wheel should have five holes in each spoke. The item number is 122428840436. Can someone post a link? Thanks. Just curious to see what she goes for.

There is lot that looks fishy about that car, and a lot that looks less than an original 69. The commission plate does not look like it belongs to this car.
And, there are earlier 69's about.

It does have the rear fender beading, '69 seats and steering wheel.

I'd guess $7-8K if the seller will take it. For someone who needs to have a '69 I reckon it's a contender, as few abound.

My reaction to 4th oldest is..... so what. would any of you pay a premium for that reason? I guess I view the TR6 as the "everyman's daily driver" .....

Agreed. It is not even the fourth oldest. If the statements are all true, it is the fourth oldest of all the cars of which people have sent information to the Triumph Register. While ours may not be among the first few or last few made, it is not registered with the Triumph Register and I would wager that many others on here have not registered their cars either. (BTW, interesting he says the VIN is XXX50 but the tag he pictures is XXX52. Guess he really isn't that much of a stickler for detail.) The fourth oldest bit is nothing more than an interesting anecdote to tell at car shows and gatherings.

To paraphrase Maxwell Smart "That's the 4th oldest TR6 I've ever seen!"

Supposedly, the 69 model is the scarcest model year TR6, even less made that the 68 250 I was once told by a VTR judge.
Tom, what say you? You have great TR 250 knowledge.

So the 76 is rarer..... imagine how the 4th from the last was built :woohoo:

Bet it's long been crushed or yard art. But then if you own it, you should put it fleabay and ask for a premium.

That's a surprisingly low number for '69s. Such a drop from the '250s number must have left TRIUMPH feeling like the TR6 was a failure, though eventually it outnumbered all the preceding models as it remained in production so much longer.
