Welcome to the PACK. You've come to the right place for all things TR6.

It's a big plus if you are, mechanically inclined and like to tinker with cars, otherwise it's going to be a much more expensive proposition.

Take advantage of knowledgeable people to help you vette cars, they've been there -done that. If you look in the Main Menu in the left navigation pane, you'll see the Buting Guide. It's a great resource on what to check in a prospect. To me the main area of attention is the frame and then rusted body and tub panels. Try to find a southern or western car that has not been exposed to winter driving in snow and salt. After all these were once somebody's daily driver.

Ask away and post lots of pictures of prospects, we'll help you separate the wheat from the chaff.

buy tr6, back to your original statement: "all i know about tr6 is i like the looks". I can only speak from experience and a comment from a friend who pretty much said the same thing to me just before I bought my first one about 10 years ago. I am now on my second.

The TR6 is a small - claustrophobia anyone? smelly, loud, fickle, noisy (subtle difference between loud and noisy, noisy is when on the inside) 50ish year old rattle trap that needs more than regular and constant maintenance. The electricals which can apparently be ironed out, prevent you from confidently driving to the beach late in the day for fear of driving home with no lights. You will avoid police cars knowing that your brake lights/rear signal lights may or may not be working. If you have the four speed gearbox, be prepared to white knuckle it on the freeway when being passed by semis, while wondering if your motor is going to blow up. If you are married or have a significant other don't expect them to ride shotgun much... if at all. for the most part, women hate convertibles, and carry that even further to really hate tr6s heh. Mines been called a deathtrap, and its not even that bad looking.

Other than that, they are a lot of fun. Nothing like getting that first thumbs up of the summer from a little kid out walking with his dad, and teenagers at every other red light letting you know how cool yer car is. A golden retriever makes a good passenger, they love tr6s.

Yep, I would say that is an accurate assessment of a stock 4 speed TR6, except the part about girls not liking them.

For me, the TR6 on the Interstate is to be avoided at all cost, whether or not you have overdrive. Between the noise from Harley's, semi's and just general traffic, not to mention driving 70 miles per hour in what feels like a pop can, I hate it. Give me a country road though and it is heaven.

As far as the ladies, it is hard for me to get out of the driveway without my wife in it. We have a great time and are looking forward to some nice summer drives.

Same here. The TR6 is Chris' car and here she is on the way to TRials.
