  • RPM's at speed

HI, I am looking into buying my first tr6. I commute every day and a stretch of it is on the interstate, I was wondering if I could drive 75 and not have the engine screaming the entire way. Im going to buy one that has the overdrive...

    Thanks, Erik

    Erik,

Overdrive will drop the RPM's quite a bit but it depends more on the exhaust. Many exhaust options out there, stock being the quietest I have heard. But hey, thats what TR's are all about.

You have no problem cruising at 75 with overdrive.
My overdrive numbers may stand correction, however it's not far off, with stock diameter tires of 185R15 or 205/70 15 and no overdrive in 4th gear you are going 21.2 MPH / 1000 RPM. At 75 your tach should read 3538. With overdrive, reduce that number to 78% or 2759.

Ditto... in my commutes to work, I have had her up to 90 with OD engaged, and the engine wasn't winey about it at all.
