  • Wrong Distributor???

    Hi All,
I just purchased a 1970 TR6. While tuning, I noticed the distributor installed was Lucas P/N 41558 D and not 41202 or 41306 as called out in the TR6 factory manual. According to Google, the Lucas 41558 D fits a 73-76 TR6. Is this a problem? The car is running is still running rough even after going through the tuning steps and cleaning the plugs.

    Best regards.

The big difference between the 73-76 distributor and the one for the 70 models was that the 73 -76 do not have a Vacuum ADVANCE module and a there's different centrifugal advance curve rpm ranges...
If you have the BENTLEY, you'll see charts in the ELECTRICAL chapter
If you send the distributor off to be recurved, it can be set to your current engine.

        Hi All,
My distributor issue is somewhat overcome by events (OBE). I had my carbs overhauled by Poolboy (outstanding job!), replaced the fuel pump, installed an inline fuel filter and now it runs MUCH better. I am still not sure that the distributor is correct but I am planning on installing coil packs next winter so I am not sure I will do much more. Thanks for asking!
