  • GT6 Drive Train Questions

I got a call from a very old friend today. He is rebuilding his GT6 +. This was the very first Triumph I ever drove back in '81.

Anyway, he is looking at a donor car. It has an OD. Does anyone know if the diffs were the same for an OD and a non-OD car? Are the driveshafts the same?

    Cygan,

Todd B (Tr250) would know for sure. Maybe send him a PM

      Cygan:

They are the same on a TR6 (diff and prop shaft), don't know about the GT6. Todd will know, as Tush said.

Physically the diffs are the same but the ratios may be different. The drive shafts will be different I think shorter on the o/d trannies

        Cheers

Todd is correct. The driveshaft on OD Spits and GT6s are shorter. The diffs are the same externally, however the ratios are different. The OD cars had a 3.23 I believe and the regular non OD ratio was 3.73 or so. The early Spits are 4.10.
