  • Polar Bear run 1/9/2021

The Tri-State Triumphs (Cincinnati, OH) went on a 50 mile or so excursion on country roads. We went over hill and dale, with a sporting amount of speed. Eleven cars went on the trip and eight had lunch. Our informal club seems to be growing in size as I think the core group that is active and does drives and tech sessions is up to around twenty people out of an email list of 75 or so.

We had a newbie, who restored an awesome Stag. he is currently restoring a Gilbern and has 700 hours in it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbern

Food is good. I had chili. It's not really a BBQ joint.

His name is Curt. Drives a '69. In our group emails, Curt was waffling on going, giving excuses (imho) about his thermostat not working, didn't know how cold it would be in the cockpit, and didn't want to have his antifreeze freeze or some such thing. I gave the "You mean you're going to have your top up?" reply.

          Hazing can be a bitch.

The high was 38 I think.

Hey!! I was going to go with the top down regardless. The drive Aaron put together was really good, lots of tight curves and good scenery (even in the winter)!

As for the driving topless, that's kinda what these little cars are made for. And by the time lunch was over my fingers had recovered, my face took a little longer to thaw out. In the photo above I'm the one standing up, as you may notice I wore several layers to keep warm. The trip also pointed out a few more things I need to do with my TR in addition to the thermostat. Curt

              Thanks Curt. You're a trooper.
