  • Inner tie rods

Does any one know someplace or person who replaces inner tie rods. Made a mess of mine removing the outer's.

FWIW...That'll be hard to do with the rack still in the car.

Can you tell us how much of a mess?
I did a pretty good job making a mess of my engine block (deck) when removing the cylinder head once. And one time I punched a hole in the timing chain cover of my Toyota Corona, it's amazing what some JB Weld can do!

What was damaged threads or teeth marks from a pipe wrench or pliers?

The rack is out of the car. I cut the outer tie rod ends off. In doing so I made some cuts into the threads. Some worse than others. None of the cuts were half way through.

I'll post some pictures. Finding replacements seem to be the first problem. I realize that new racks are relatively inexpensive. It just wasn't an expense I was counting on. I'm sure there will be plenty of those yet to come along. I rather fix old.

Yes, but my plans have changed. I tried loosening the nut holding them on. I'm afraid I did damage to the rack itself. Got some instructions from another site saying you could loosen the nut etc. Didn't work out. I've got a used rack coming from Mathews. Did you take those off?
