  • Overdrive Selector Operation

Seems like it's reversed. I've noted that the operation of my overdrive selector seems to be reversed from what the Drivers Handbook says. The Handbook says that raising the lever should engage the overdrive. But I've noticed that when I raise the lever the rpms jump up as it downshifts. The section in the Workshop Manual about removal/refitting of the selector (40.24.01) doesn't seem to exist.

Assuming the Handbook is correct...is this wired/installed wrong?

    Thanks,
    Matt

If you're talking about the stalk switch mounted on the column, the true English way is to it make so that UP is OFF and down in ON.
There are/were different column switches for left or right hand drive cars.

Ok, I'll just leave it as is then. Maybe having it up for "off" will help me to not grab it by mistake when I'm reaching for the turn signal lever.
