How do I compress the anti-rattle spring and plunger while reinstalling the shifter? I put pre-lube grease on both ends of the spring and stuck the plunger to that, but there's no mechanical means to hold them together while inserting the gearbox lever. Appears that the spring needs to be compressed, but I don't want the plunger to shoot across the garage of just into the shifter area of the gearbox. Is there some trick out there that I need to know about?

No need to compress when I have reinstalled. Just pack stick with grease to hold in place while installing.'74 TR6 CF13007U aka "Mr. T"

Funny how the obvious is always right under your nose, and you just don't see it.Brian Cunningham
