I hate to admit it but I found the problem with the carbs. Poolboy you were right as usual. I should have taken a few pictures. I rebuilt the carburetors on my first go through in 2016 and I installed a rubber gasket under the alum washer under the needle valve. Opps! Well, it was in the rebuild kit! The rubber gaskets disintegrated. A piece got caught in one of the needle valves and both threw off the float height alignment. I removed the rubber gaskets and adjusted the floats and all is well. At least for now. I want to send them to pool boy if he will take them after I drive for a while. And..., the head gasket is holding!
