While waiting of a couple parts, I thought I would take a couple photos of this beautiful sight. As I'll be setting the valve clearances a few times, I thought I'd label the rockers and write the respective clearances on them for the GP2 cam.

I like your idea of writing the clearances on the rockers! 👍

Really nice Pete. Good luck with the start up. Curious what that piece of metal is bolted to your timing cover?

          Cheers,

Thanks, Tush. Are you talking about the alternator adjusting arm? I have it pointing in that direction to keep it out of the way.

        • #65
Hi Pete, If that is your stock alternator adjusting bracket, I don't believe it installs there (unless you have some kind of aftermarket alternator)....It usually bolts through one of the waterpump housing bolts....

          Cheers

Mine is a 1976 model which had the air pump installed over the alternator.

Hey Pete, yeah I never though about how the air pump would be mounted As PB shows, it’s different on the earlier cars.

                Cheers,
                Tush

Here's the final result. You can see the open holes above where the alternator is mounted.

Cool, yeah it’s quite different to the cars without the air pump. Thanks for showing us.

Today was the day! Jeremy came over, and after we made sure we had the static timing set, we started my car. Overall, it went very well. A couple minor drips that will be fixed tomorrow. This has been a major project, and I couldn't have done it without Jeremy's help. I'm too exhausted to list all the things I did to this car over the past six months. Maybe tomorrow.

Besides having great help, my daughter brought my grandson over to watch. He loves my car and was pretty excited.

This afternoon was fun. You built a good engine. Good build, well planned, well executed.

                      Congratulations to both, y'all.
While some people have put their cars away for the Winter, you'll still have some of the best driving weather of the year with those fresh engines.
