Does anyone have the installation instructions for the Gunst Bearing and would be willing to share it with me.

Cyg --- I don't have the written instructions as provided by Mr. Gunst, or Nelson Riedel, who showed this in one of his tech articles in the buckeye triumph web site on CLUTCHES. But I did offer what I did on request byTRF, and they showed my illustrations in one of their parts catalogue. I not longer have this, as it was delivered approx. 10 years ago. But...

if you're comfortable with how the clutch works, it's not a big deal to preload the Gunst to the 20 lb. that I did.

Connect the spring provided to the end of the handy transmission cover bolts as it appears under the car.

Connect the link/strap provided with the bearing kit to the other end of the spring to the bottom hole in the three hole clutch operating arm.
The result -should- give the necessary preload. If one wanted to get anal about the pound of pull, a fish scale could be used, but it really isn't necessary. You want it to be heavy enough to keep the bearing against the clutch fingers, so the two spin together.

      The upsides...
of the preload is there will be zero play in the linkage when one goes to disengage the clutch. Is the bearing up to running full time? It did for me, but I only used it for about 10,000 miles before going to the hydraulic clutch/Toyota 5 speed conversion. I still have the Gunst bearing under the bench and it spins easily and noiselessly.

There was very little wear in the pressure plate fingers, since it and the bearing always spun at the same rpm. (Not really a big deal)

My reason for going with the Gunst was many fold:
Nelson offered it to me to "try out" as we were both wanting to come up with an alternative to the RHP which was suffering from poor quality during this time, about 20+ years ago.
Other t/o bearings were less than satisfactory, either because of their weight and reluctance to come up to speed without squealing on contact.

      The possible downsides...
might be that this could push the crankshaft forward. Full time contact with the thrust washers? Perhaps, but it made no difference in running tolerance here during the time I had one in operation. (It stayed at .004)
For what it's worth, the KOYO bearing could also be preloaded in the same way as the Gunst, if squealing is present with this bearing.

Hope this is clear enough to proceed with the installation. I found it worthwhile.

Also note that there are owners who used the Gunst bearing without any preload!
