  • Engine rebuild stalled - need help please!

    Hello all,
My engine rebuild has suddenly hit the pause button. I have new pistons, bearings, installed on the short block and the head has had full valve job with new valve guides and rocker shaft installed.
Here's my problem, when the block was hot tanked, the oil pump bushing was removed. I ordered a new one from TRF but come to find out it is on backorder (surprise) and I was told they are looking for a new supplier!
Moss shows this part as NLA, its not offered by Vicky Brit, or BP Northwest. Obsolete Auto in Canada had one in stock but it turned out to be an empty box. Rimmer does not show it on their website nor Moss UK.
Any other sources I may have missed? For those who have rebuilt their motor, where did you get your bushing?
    Thanks for your help
    Tom

    Tom,

I used my old one because none was available. I know that Erik doesn't have any in his spare parts, because we looked when we thought mine was lost for a few minutes.

It's a long shot, but you can try Mike in Vermont. He just may be able to help you. Check your PM's in a few minutes.

And don't forget to shim the housing per my web site pictures and the manual instructions. The paper gaskets for this shimming should be in your lower engine gasket set.

Has anyone dealt with Wishbone Classics lately? Kai also may have this part but their website has not been updated since last October.

Revington TR, Quiller Triumph, TR Trader. All these are in the UK but I have bought small parts from Revintons before and it usually takes about a week to get here.......

Well so far I have had no luck finding this piece but I have learned that it is cast iron, not brass or bronze.I am still waiting for Rimmer bros to get back to me but no one else manafactures or distributes this part. ( Hello Francios) My machinist split mine in two when he removed it. Even if I can get some dimensions, I can have one fabricated on a lathe.
                    Thanks

                      Tom,

I would start with TRF but ask for Tom Spadafora at C.A.R., they rebuild engines. If he doesn???t have one, he can probably direct you to someone that does.

If that fails here are some sites that I have bookmarked over the years, find their contact number and give them a call. Again if they don???t have one, they may be able to give you another source.

                          Hi Lou,
I did call CAR - no luck, also talked to Kai, Wayne at Triumphs only, Rimmer, Revington and Team Triumph.
I have a guy on craigs list with an old block who will see if he can pound one out. I will check the other links you have listed.
                          Thanks,
                          Tom

i've got an old tr6 block in my garage. i think it should have what you're looking for if you can't find it elsewhere, but you'd have to come get it out yourself. i'm in upstate new york, off exit 19 on the thruway.
