  • Instrument lighting?

Is the wire for the instrument lighting socket of the speedometer integral with the socket or plugged into the socket? Have the wire hanging and before I plug it in to the socket just want to ensure that would be correct.

On the stock harnesses there are 2 metal bulb holders with a red/white wire coming out of them for each large gauge.
I've never seen the connector in your pic in factory harness before?

This is what the tach and speedometer light sockets look like. It plugs into the hole with the green filter.
But don't rule out what you have as a PO's modification until you check out the back of your gauge

Ken, from your picture the red portion of the wire entering the socket is what my white part is and it looks broken off from the socket. I'll pop the socket out of the speedo to see if that is where it came from if it ever cools down a bit here. Is the bulb a screw in?

Yes it's a screw base, Ralph..and it doesn't show in my picture that well but the red wire has the white stripe.
