  • Door mirror recommendations

When we did the resto a few years ago we replaced the falling apart black rectangular door mirrors with what appeared to be nice looking chrome bullet mirrors. Turns out they are useless for seeing as the angles cannot be adjusted enough and the “chrome” is bubbling up so they now look like crap. Anyone have a recommendation on a decent replacement?

Ken, is it the curved stem on these that make the right hand side mirror useful? I know of many guys who have bullets on the RH door that they say are useless. Thanks.

Hey Irv...I think the combination of things.... the stem, the shape and size of the head and the convex mirror glass.
I actually have convex glass on both sides...All that makes it a qualified "better".

Thanks, Ken. I've been holding off on a RH mirror for years. I think it's time to look further into what yo have. Appreciate the help.

Yeah, I’m just down the coast from you so same climate and in garage but mine, not from TRF, are pitted so I’d love to find ones with actual chrome. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll check it out.

My 6 still wears the orginal bullet drivers side mirror and I got a passenger side mirror bullet from TRF that looks identical to the old mirror but is of lesser chrome quality.
Earlier this year I repaced both of the glass with convex mirrors from England. I can see just as well with the bullets as I can with the larger. trapezoid mirrors on the Jags.

My driver side bullet is decent. Passenger side I ended up taking apart and stretching the spring. It no longer points to the curb!

Edit: not sure where they were purchased as they were already on the car. You can see someone tried a fix - cut in the mirror housing.
