  • Fender welt or beading assembly between rear deck and fender

My body man is about to assemble and paint fenders and over the weekend I was looking at the Moss Catalog. I noticed that it lists the fender welt or beading assembly piece between the top rear deck and the outer fender. Moss says it's for up to 1972. Rimmer Bros says it's for 1969 and doesn't mention it for later. My car was built in October 1970 and titled as a 1971. Does my car have it or not. If so I'll have to order some for him.

    Moss is wrong

    Only early 69s had beading.
So much rust, so little time

Is there a way to know if a '69 should have the welting? Mine's fairly early and doesn't have it, but it's also been repainted, so no idea what was original. I suppose it doesn't really matter, fit-wise on the fenders?

Just went thru the Piggott book...couldn't find anything on the fender beads at all. I've read some speculation that only the first 1000 had them so up to CC26000 or so. Who knows? I think they look pretty cool if painted in body colour.
